Letta Review — Self-Hosted AI Tool
Our review of Letta — features, strengths, and trade-offs.
Letta is an open-source framework (formerly MemGPT) for building stateful AI agents with self-editing memory. Agents use a memory hierarchy inspired by operating systems — core memory in context and external memory blocks that the agent can edit itself, so it learns and improves over time. Run agents as a managed service, in the cloud, or fully self-hosted with Docker. Includes the Letta Agent Development Environment (ADE) with a chat UI, memory inspector, and agent builder.
